DUTCH OPEN 2008
Yes we were there again - this is our fourth year running - to watch all the exitement and the drama and the wonderful music and dancing of couples from all over the world.

Here are some of the moments.  There are many more in Dancesportinfo.net

Professional Latin Dutch Open - Riccardo and Yulia - What an amazing couple to watch close up - exciting, exuberant, exhillarating, a powerhouse of musicality and movement.
Professional Ballroom - Jonathan Wilkins and Hazel Newbury from England - exquisitely elegant and vibrant in their dancing.
Dancing their famous leap in the quickstep - Domenico Soale and Gioia Cerasoli came second.
Amateur Latin Dutch Open 2008 - Kyrill and Elena took gold! What a delight to watch them year after year developing and progressing.  They came third last year and first this year.  Congratulations!!
Troels and Ina from Denmark - what a strong vibrant couple - they came first in Blackpool and two years running second at the Dutch Open.
Such fun to watch.  The audience loves them so much.

Dutch Open - November 2008 - Five couples represented Israel this year in the fabulous four day event in Assen -
Annabelle Perez and Illia Miasnik from Sunrise Arad,
Costa Gershun and Dianna  Piskun from Gratsia Ashdod,
Ivan Moiseev and Elina Shustin from Gratsia Ashdod,
Andrey Lobankov and Liana Koralov from Bravo Haifa,
Artiem Lyazkovsky and Elena Dovgan from Bravo Beersheva.

Congratulations to Annabelle and Illia who reached 47 in Rising Stars Latin Dutch Open 2008.
Congratulations to Artiem and Elena who reached the finals in the Junior B Latin.

Prior to the four day competition, a three day congress is held with all the top teachers and dancers attending.   What a delight - being together with Riccardo Cocchi & Yulia Zagorouitchenko, representing the USA,with Kirill Belorukov & Elvira Skrylnikova  representing Russia, with Troels Bager & Ina Ivanova Jeliazkova and Janick Löwe & Pia Engelberg Lundanes both couples representing Denmark. An amazing and exhausting very long three days starting at 8.30 in the morning and finishing with a two hour practice from 21.00-23.00.

We had the delight of working together with Yulia and Ricardo in the congress.  Watching them practice was an education in itself then to see the results on the dance floor - fantastic!!!

A message from Israel.
We had a wonderful trip with moments of extreme joy and heart break, of satisfactions and disapointments, we learnt so much and took away so many memories.  We made new friends and met old ones.  We danced and sang and shouted and cheered.  We saw some of the best dancers in the world dancing one meter in front of us.  We were judged by some of the best judges in the world.  We watched icons such as Donnie Byrnes and Gaynor Fairweather and we also saw future stars in the making.  This was a trip to remember.  Thank you Fred for making all of this possible.

DUTCH OPEN 2007
Five couples represented Israel at the fabulous Dutch Open 2007 in Assen in Holland this November.  Despite the wet and cold weather we were thrilled by the three day congress and the four day competition beginning at 10.00 in the morning and continuing non stop till midnight each day.

The standard was as high as we have come to expect at the Dutch Open.  The young ones are so amazingly mature in their dancing that the 6-9 category leaves the audience spell bound.  Working group by group each age category has so many wonderful dancers leading up to youth and amateur.

There were some new faces but all those that I have been following for the last three years were there and the improvement in their dancing is fascinating to behold.

The Professional Latin was very good however the Professional Ballroom this year left us in awe.  It was almost a repetition of the Blackpool final except with the addition of Timothy Howson and Joanne Boulton.  Gozzoli got the gold and they took silver.  Italy once again seems to be conquering the ballroom scene with so many exciting top dancing couples.

Of our five couples we were pleased with the results.  Three got into round two in the Amateur Latin, one in the Youth Latin and one in the Amateur Ballroom.  Our couples are also moving up and getting noticed and it is a thrilling process to see unfold on the dance floor.

To all our dancers and teachers I highly recommend this competition and hope to see you there with us next year.
